Robert Kaplan

That’s Capital had a Q+A with him a while back, and its a fascinating listen.

What Kaplan says interests me for a number of reasons. He bought a one way ticket to Tunisia and has traveled around the MidEast, Central Asia, North Africa – really, most places which far from the bright center of the universe. He’s also spent an incredible amount of time deployed with the American Military, and he provides a good mixture not only of grand strategy, but of how tactics will mature to meet the threats and forces of the future. He’s had lots of experience seeing places and talking to people.

This stream covers disaster relief and the US military – what the military is good at, bad at, will face in the future, and why the military is stuck in the role of disaster relief.
